What is RTGS?
RTGS stands for Real-Time Gross Settlement. it is a specialized electronic funds transfer system used by banks and financial institutions for high-value and time-sensitive transactions. The transactions are settled individually and immediately, without being batched with other transactions.
RTGS Transaction Limits
- The minimum amount that can be transferred via RTGS is Rs. 2 lakh.
- There is no specified upper limit for RTGS transactions when conducted through a bank branch. This means you can transfer any amount above the minimum threshold of Rs. 2 lakh.
- If you choose RTGS transaction through internet banking, there is typically a maximum limit in place. This limit is often set at Rs. 25 lakh, it may vary across banks.
RTGS Charges
- Inward transactions – Free, no charge to be levied.
- Outward transactions – ₹ 2,00,000/- to 5,00,000/-: not exceeding ₹ 25/- (exclusive of tax, if any)
- Above ₹ 5,00,000/-: not exceeding ₹ 50 (exclusive of tax, if any)

How to Transfer Funds Through RTGS?
- Log in to your net banking account using your User ID and Password.
- Click on the 'Fund transfer' section on the home page.
- Select the transfer method as 'RTGS'.
- Add the beneficiary to your account if you haven't already.
- Click on the 'Add beneficiary' option and enter the beneficiary's details such as IFSC, account number, account type, and name.
- Enter the amount you wish to transfer and click on 'Confirm'.
- Authorize the transfer using authentication methods like OTP.
- Receive a transaction confirmation with a reference number.
- The recipient will be notified of the incoming funds in real-time.
- Keep the confirmation details for your records.
