Types of capital Assets are mentioned below:

Short Term Capital Assets : If an asset is sold within 36 months of its acquisition, any profit earned on it is called short-term capital gains. The primary criteria for fixed assets like land, house property and building is 24 months starting from the financial year 2017-18.

Long Term Capital Assets : Profit received from sale of assets held for more than 36 months is called long-term capital gains. Land, buildings, and house property qualify as long-term capital assets if held for 24 months or more (from FY 2017-18).
