What is GST Return Filing?

GST Return Filing means submitting details of your business transactions to the GST department. These details include your business's sales, purchases, GST collected from customers, GST paid on expenses, and the final tax amount payable. Every business registered under GST in India is legally required to file GST returns - monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on the business type and turnover.

Filing GST returns on time helps the government track taxes and ensure that the correct amount of GST is paid or claimed as input tax credit. Late or incorrect GST return filing can lead to penalties, interest, late fees, or even cancellation of GST registration.
